アメリカの子供と101歳のおばあちゃんの動画(CEFR A2, TOEIC 225 - 545 レベル)

アメリカの子供と多彩な人々との出会いを紹介するサイト HiHo Kids から101歳のおばあちゃんとのやり取りの動画を紹介します。
動画のおばあちゃんは第一次大戦後の1920年頃の生まれで、禁酒法とアル・カポネとかの時代ですね。馬車が走ってたと動画の中で言ってます。
使われている語彙の95%はオックスフォード3000の3,000語で網羅されています。話すスピードは極端に遅いということはなく、142WPMでTOEICのリスニングパートのゆっくり部分より若干遅いくらいと思われます。
僕は祖母と一緒に暮らしていて中学生のときに亡くしています。
とてもかわいがってくれたのでなついていたのですが、祖母はいつも笑っているけれどもほとんど話をしない人だったので、どのような人生だったのかといったことは聞いたことが無かったです。
もっと色々な話を聞いておけば良かったと動画を見てあらためて思います。
YouTube動画で使われている英単語を、オックスフォード大学出版局によるワードリスト、オックスフォード3000と5000を使ってどのレベルの単語がどれくらい使われているのか調べた結果を紹介します。
1日1動画で、未知の単語数20個前後、センテンス数も20個前後が僕としては理想ですが、何よりも興味をもてる動画かどうかを重視して動画をチョイスしています。
簡単にオックスフォード3000と5000 についてですが、CEFRに従ってコーパスを元に研究・開発された英単語リストで、オックスフォード3000の3,000単語はCEFR A1からB2レベル、これにさらに2,000語追加したオックスフォード5000はCEFR B2-C1レベルとされています。
結果ですが、この動画の中で使われている単語はオックスフォード3000の3,000語で95%の語彙が網羅されていました。
具体的にはCEFR A1レベルで91%、 CEFR A2レベルで96% 網羅されています。
