外国人観光客と在日外国人向け東京・渋谷の紹介動画：単語レベル(CEFR B1, TOEIC 550-780レベル)
文系大学生YouTube動画で使われている英単語を、オックスフォード大学出版局によるワードリスト、オックスフォード3000と5000を使ってどのレベルの単語がどれくらい使われているのか調べた結果を紹介します。
1日1動画で、未知の単語数20個前後、センテンス数も20個前後が僕としては理想ですが、何よりも興味をもてる動画かどうかを重視しています。
今回は主に外国人観光客と在日外国人を対象とした東京の情報サイトを運営するTokyo Cheapoさんの渋谷を紹介する動画です。
簡単にオックスフォード3000と5000 についてですが、CEFRに従ってコーパスを元に研究・開発された英単語リストで、オックスフォード3000の3,000単語はCEFR A1からB2レベル、これにさらに2,000語追加したオックスフォード5000はCEFR B2-C1レベルとされています。
結果は、この動画の中で使われている単語はオックスフォード5000、CEFR B1レベルで94%網羅されていることが分かりました。
研究によると文書の98%の単語が分かれば理解に支障が無いとも言われていますが、文書と違って動画ですので補足的な情報がありますから、 文字情報のみを前提に研究結果が提唱する 98%よりも少しハードルを下げた95%の単語の網羅率をレベル判定の基準にしています。
