イギリス人美女のお顔を間近で見ながら超頻出100単語の発音を学べる動画(CEFR A1, TOEIC 120 - 220 レベル)
文系大学生今回はイギリス英語の教師 Lucy さんが運営する外国語学習者向けのサイト English with Lucy から超重要な100単語の発音講座の動画を紹介します。
短期間ですが僕は米国人と知り合って、彼が目の前で英語を話すのをみて衝撃を受けたことがあります。
欧米人が全員そうだとは思わないのですが、話すときの口の動きや顔の(筋肉の)動きとか、特にツバがかかりそうなくらいの息遣いや鼻に抜ける感じなど、iphoneなどで音声を聴いているだけでは気づかなかったことに衝撃を受けました。
テキストを読んでイメージしていたのとかなり違うと感じました。
目の前でネイティブから発音を教わるのが理想ですが、発声時の顔や口回りをよく見て発音練習するのは効果があるのではないでしょうか。
さらに美人でしたら何時間でも眺めてられて効果も高いかもしれません。
話がそれましたが、YouTube動画で使われている英単語を、オックスフォード大学出版局によるワードリスト、オックスフォード3000と5000を使ってどのレベルの単語がどれくらい使われているのか調べた結果を紹介します。
1日1動画で、未知の単語数20個前後、センテンス数も20個前後が僕としては理想ですが、何よりも興味をもてる動画かどうかを重視して動画をチョイスしています。
簡単にオックスフォード3000と5000 についてですが、CEFRに従ってコーパスを元に研究・開発された英単語リストで、オックスフォード3000の3,000単語はCEFR A1からB2レベル、これにさらに2,000語追加したオックスフォード5000はCEFR B2-C1レベルとされています。
結果ですが、この動画の中で使われている単語はオックスフォード5000の5,000語の内、CEFR A1レベルで93%網羅されていることが分かりました。尚、速さは152WPMでTOEICのリスニングパートと同等でした。
